Early one morning I set out to photograph the doors in the historic district of Saint John, New Brunswick. The sky was overcast and the light was low; ideal for capturing clear sharp images. I was pleased with the results until I discovered that this subject was totally unoriginal. Many photograohers had photographed these very same doors. I was about to abandon the project when I thought how much more interesting the doors would become if I extracted each out of its context and put it into a new background. I matched and complemented colours to photographs I had previously taken and created the images you see in the thumbnails below. I want you to imagine that you can open each door and step through into the hidden world of which I have given just a hint. What woud you find?
